WHAT IS DUCTLESS?

What is a Ductless System?

Ductless systems have a split design without a complicated amount of ducts. Unlike central air conditioners these systems are duct-free. These split systems (also called mini-splits or duct-free systems) usually have one outdoor unit (the condenser) and at least one indoor unit (the evaporator) inside of your home.

Ductless systems (both indoor and outdoor units) are connected with copper insulated refrigerant lines that pump cooled or heated refrigerant directly from the indoor units to the outdoor units and back again.

The factors to look at when you choose your Mitsubishi Electric ductless cooling and heating systems are BTU’s, number of zones, and unit type.

Single zones vs. Multi-zones

A single room ductless system is where there is only one indoor unit to the outdoor unit whereas multi-room ductless systems have two to four indoor units to each outdoor one. Each of these can be set to their own temperature and work separately from the rest.

The best way to cool and heat a space is to get an indoor unit for each room to keep the temperature at pristine comfort conditions. The main thing to look for is to make sure the BTUs are enough to cover all of the square footage.

How to pick the right ductless systems for you?

A single zone ductless system will have one indoor unit (the evaporator) and one outdoor unit (the condenser). Single zones are generally used to cool one room, if you want to cool more than one, a multi-room ductless system can be used that has two, three, or four indoor units to one outdoor unit.

BTU (British Thermal Units)

A single zone ductless system will have one indoor unit (the evaporator) and one outdoor unit (the condenser). Single zones are generally used to cool one room, if you want to cool more than one, a multi-room ductless system can be used that has two, three, or four indoor units to one outdoor unit.

Installation types

There are four types of indoor units. Wall mounted units, ceiling recessed, floor mounted, and horizontal ducted. The first of these, the wall mounted units, are hung on a wall and designed to look sleek and modern in order to never take away from the beauty of your home. Following this is the ceiling recessed and floor mounted units. The ceiling recessed units are concealed inside your ceiling to keep any bulkiness or air conditioning from crowding your home. Right behind them are the floor mounted units that are concealed in the floor for the same reason. Finally, we have the horizontal ducted units which are whisper quiet and can be placed just about anywhere for those tough to reach spots.
